WIPED HIS NOSE ON MAN’S BACK

CCTV footage captures the moment a clubber who wiped his nose on a man’s back was knocked out in an East Yorkshire nightclub.

The footage was captured at The Apollo in Bridlington on October 27, last year.

Full-time truck driver Scott Johnson, 29, was on a night out when he felt something brush across his back.

At Hull Crown Court earlier this month, prosecuting barrister Stephen Robinson said: “He turned and asked the victim if he wiped his nose. He said he had.

“The defendant [Johnson] punched the complainant and kicked him when he tried to get off the floor.”

Johnson lashed out with four punches, which sent his victim to the ground before stomping on him as he laid on the floor.

He walks back to the bar as a group of concerned clubbers surround the man laid out at their feet before calling an ambulance.

“The complainant can’t remember very much about the incident,” said Mr Robinson.

“He remembers going into a packed pub, but after that his memory of then things are a blur until he woke up in hospital.

“He can’t actually remember being in The Apollo.

“It was thought initially that the complainant might have had a serious head injury.

“An ambulance was called and he was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.

“His head and neck was placed in a brace and he was given a CT scan. “That revealed there was not a serious head injury and he was later discharged.”

Ashamed by his actions, Johnson voluntarily turned himself in at the police station and made attempts to visit the victim in hospital and reach out on social media to apologise. Johnson, who had no previous convictions, appeared at Hull Crown Court on September 1, where he was spared jail, receiving a six month term suspended for 12 months.

His honour Judge Mark Bury told Johnson that he had seen cases where “lesser violence had killed a man”.

He said: “Luckily for you and more lucky for the complainant no serious injuries were caused on this occasion.

“You could have caused him serious injuries.

“I have been involved in cases where lesser violence than that has killed a man. He is lucky, but so are you.”
