NEW Hull City signing Regan Slater is determined to help the club escape the clutches of League One at the first attempt.

The 21-year-old midfielder completed a season-long loan move from Premier League outfit Sheffield United yesterday, and in the process, became Grant Mccann’s tenth transfer window arrival.

Slater had been involved in the Blades’ pre-season campaign, playing in games against Dundee United, Derby County and Preston North

End, before Chris Wilder sanctioned his move from South to East Yorkshire, and it is a move the youngster is enthused about.

“I’m delighted, really made up with the move,” said S la t e r, having a l ready endeared himself to City supporters.

“It’s big that a club probably shouldn’t be in the league they’re in.”

Slater has previous Football League experience with Carlisle and Scunthorpe United, and says he’s keen to be a part of what the club hopes will be an instant return to the Championship in May.

“The manager rang me and said they want to push and get out of this league and that’s something I want to be a part of,” Slater told the Tigers’ website.

“He said there’ll be lots of games throughout the season so it’s great for me to get the opportunity to come here and play.

“I play in centre midfield, anywhere in midfield. I can do a bit of both, box to box, defending and attacking.

“I probably wanted to step up (to League One) sooner but the opportunity is here now so it’s up to me to take it.

“I want to play games, keep gaining more experience and that will help me develop.”
