‘CRAZY’ WORLD RECORD AFTER PULLING 30 TRUCKS 30 METRES OVER 30 DAYS

A HULL strongman has completed a “crazy” world record after pulling 30 trucks, 30 metres over 30 days.

Ryan Linley, 29, of west Hull has raised £5,500 for charity through his challenge and has also hopefully set a new title through embarking on the massive challenge in September.

Throughout the month of September, Ryan has been pulling lorries weighing between eight and 26 tonnes across the region and the country.

On his last day of the challenge, Wednesday, September 30, Ryan pulled a Humberside Fire & Rescue truck at the headquarters in Hessle, but it was a tough start due to the rain making it hard for Ryan to get a grip on the ground.

But he powered through and managed to complete the challenge, with family and friends cheering him along, as well as young Adam Worker, six, who Ryan has known from birth, and who has benefited from the charity Make-a-wish, who Ryan is raising money for.

Little Adam went to Disn- eyland Paris with the help of f the charity as he suffers from m a life limiting condition, trun- cus arteriosus, which means he has already had to undergo two open heart surgeries, his first at just 24 days old.

After completing his 30th h truck pull an exhausted Ryan said: “I can pull trucks all day long, but without everyone e who has donated, it wouldn’t have got anywhere so it’s been amazing.

“I’m emotional - I got quite angry and annoyed when I couldn’t get footing, but I held d it together and got it done.

“I did it for Adam. Families like his benefit from Make-a-wish and that’s when you dig deep and it’s nothing pulling a truck compared to what some of these kids go through.

“I’m in sheer agony right now, but it’s nothing compared to what kids like Adam go through - I’ve known him all his life.

“I’m an emotional wreck right now and stopping pouring my eyes out even more of a challenge than the truck pull right now -I think it will all sink at home a bit later.”

As part of Adam’s trip to Disneyland Paris - he got to meet his h favourite characters - Buzz and Woody from Toy Story in 2018 and the youngster said he was “proud” and “happy” at Ryan’s achievement.

Adam’s dad Mark said t that the family of four were s so glad of the holiday, where they were treated like “VIPS”.

As if the 30 day challenge c was not enough, Ryan has decided to extend his fundraiser by pulling a 50 tonne truck on Saturday, October 3 at AMS Recovery in Yorkshire to push his donations. The target was initially set at £500, but is now in the thousands.
