106 further coronaviru­s cases confirmed in area

A FURTHER 106 coronaviru­s cases have been confirmed across East Yorkshire in the past 24 hours as case numbers continue to rise.

In total, 4,648 people in the area are now known to have had Covid-19 since the pandemic began, according to the latest government figures.

The new data revealed that 46 positive tests were conducted in Hull up until 9am yesterday, however, a greater number was once again recorded in the East Riding.

Sixty new cases were confirmed in the county - taking the total since the pandemic began in the East Riding up to 2,538.

Hull’s figure now stands at 2,110.

The cumulative infection rate per 100,000 since the pandemic started is now 812.2 in Hull and 743.9 in the East Riding.

No further deaths have been reported at either Hull Royal Infirmary or Castle Hill Hospital in the past 24 hours.

The latest death to be announced occurred on Tuesday, October 6, and was announced in the data released on Wednesday by NHS England. The total number of hospital deaths within the Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust now stands at 216.

A further 43 people who tested positive for coronaviru­s have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 30,323, NHS England said.

Patients were aged between 32 and 99 years old. All but one patient, aged 71, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between August 10 and October 7. Most were on or after October 6.
