TWO men have been charged after a stabbing in west Hull at the weekend.

A large police presence was seen in Doncaster Street, west Hull, this weekend after a man was taken to hospital in a serious condition following a reported “machete” attack.

Several police vehicles and crime scene investigators were seen combing the “bloody scene” on Sunday morning after witnesses say they heard a man screaming for help after he was allegedly stabbed.

Police were called to the area at around 10.15pm on Saturday evening and cordoned off the street until Sunday evening.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while, earlier this week, two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

Humberside Police have now charged the two men, but the woman has been released without charge.

A spokeswoman said: “Two Hull men are due before court today in connection a man in

Saturday.

“Campbell Higinbotham, 38, of Chester Grove, has been charged with assisting an offender and possession of a knife.

“Richard Hamilton, 48, also of Chester Grove, is also charged with assisting an offender.

“Both are remanded to appear before Hull Magistrates’ Court.

“A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, remains in our custody. A 36-yearold woman arrested in connection with the incident earlier this week has been released without charge.”

Crowds of people gathered at the scene on Sunday morning with residents left in shock as blood with the stabbing Doncaster Street of on was left on the ground in the “quiet street”.

As forensic investigators carried out their investigations on Sunday one resident said: “There’s been a tent put up around the blood and the police have been there all night.

“Some residents are talking about it, but it’s mainly quiet with very little people coming out their homes.

“I’m surprised that something can happen on a quiet street like ours. Nothing happened like the past eight years we’ve lived here.”
