We need to know origin of Covid to stop a repeat
I KNEW a virus was loose on the world in January. At the end of February I avoided entering confined spaces, such as my local library, which I used to frequent six days a week.
I suggested at that time that all GP surgeries should be told to test all their patients as 98 per cent of the population is registered with a doctor. This would avoid all the false misleading figures and avoid the expensive track and trace system.
I live on Ings Road Estate and know about 200 lovely people. None have been tested. A few, like elsewhere, think they may have had it.
A relative with lung cancer has been refused a test. So all figures quoted are guesswork and useless.
The Government initially did a good thing by getting the stay at home message through, but now are in danger of losing public’s goodwill and trust. They built the Nightingale hospitals but then spoilt it by sending Covid patients to ordinary hospitals.
Back in February, I wanted the Government to make it compulsory to use hand sanitiser when entering and leaving buildings, and also wanted them to insist major organisations with lots of staff look at working practices to stop the spread. That didn’t happen, and still isn’t happening.
As for the scandolous PPE shortages, I would have liked to see a comfortable reuseable spaceman-type suit provided. After a shift using it, staff could be walked through a steam room and shower making it safe to take off and reuse again after being washed, avoiding expense and environmental issues. The public have been asked recently to use reuseable masks.
I also think its imperatative to find the cause of the virus, and my question would be is there a link to Avian (chicken) flu? I read that 97 poultry workers had tested positive and six workers at a KFC also. And on this same day I saw a lorry with chickens heading for the slaughterhouse with its air vents shut, and again I wondered why this illegal act was allowed.
I don’t believe the conspiracy theories about the research centre in Wuhan, but we do need to know what happened to avoid it happening again.
