Arrests after raid uncovers a firearm, two Tasers and cash

POLICE have arrested a man and a woman in Hull after a raid that uncovered a firearm, as well as two Tasers and cash.

Residents reported their neighbours in Coltman Street after concerns were raised about flats there, which they suspected were being used for drug-related crime.

The Operation Galaxy team were joined by the Hull Central Neighbourh­ood team as they targeted three properties on the street yesterday morning.

As a result, a 41-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were both arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession of a firearm, with two Tasers and a quantity of cash siezed.

Both remain in custody, pending further enquiries.

Community Beat Manager Tim Mcgowan said: “I’d like to thank the community for their continued support and for getting in touch with us with informatio­n to help us carry out targeted operations like we have today.

“We will continue to do all we can to help rid Coltman Street of drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour and your informatio­n is vital in helping us to do that.

“If you have any concerns, please get in touch. We will listen and even if we don’t act on what you’ve told us straight away, rest assured that every bit of informatio­n we receive helps us to plan our patrols, warrants and other action to target criminals.”

The proactive task force at Operation Galaxy has endeavoure­d to “take control” of the streets while making “the lives of criminals and predators difficult and uncomforta­ble”.

The operation targets all types of crime, from drug-related offences and county lines gangs, to organised crime and exploitati­on.
