A MAN who was found under a Hull bridge with a knife and a sharpened baton claims he had no intentions to cause harm.

CCTV operators were alarmed when they spotted an “agitated” Aleksander Myslinski, 36, running down Beverley Road with a baton in the early hours of April 4 this year.

Police approached the Polish national under a bridge, where they searched his bag and discovered more weapons.

“The male was agitated and was seen running down the street carrying the baton and stopped to speak to a female,” said prosecuting barrister Rachel Scott.

“Officers attended Beverley Road and found the male under a bridge next to the Cannon Junction Café.”

Officers arrested Myslinski for carrying an offensive weapon in a public place, but the baton was not the only weapon found in his possession that night.

A lock-knife and two pipes, one of which was sharpened at one end, was also found in his bag.

Ms Scott said: “He was searched by police and the following items were recovered: a grey handle lock-knife with a 3in blade and an 18in metal pipe wrapped in black tape with a cork in one end.

“A small metal pipe also wrapped in black electrical tape and sharpened at one end.

“A small white bag with white powder later confirmed to be amphetamine.”

Myslinkski appeared at Hull Crown Court on Monday to be sentenced for possession of a bladed article in a public place, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of amphetamine.

Unrepresented in court, Myslinski, with the help of a Polish interpreter, told Recorder Algazy QC that he had no intentions to cause harm.

“I would like to ask for the lowest possible sentence,” he said. “It was just my own stupidity and I didn’t want to harm anybody.”

Recorder Algazy sentenced Myslinski to three months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

He must also complete 15 days’ rehabilitation activity requirement and pay a £350 fine.
