Rovers set sights on big finish to season

Hull KR are gearing up for a gruelling period as the end of the Super League season comes into view. Rovers are enjoying a welcome nine-day turnaround but face six games in three weeks when they return to action on Thursday.

Here, the Mail takes a look at KR’S run-in.

Castleford, Oct 22 (Totally Wicked Stadium)

The Tigers are now only one place above Rovers after losing seven of their eight Super League games since the restart.

Daryl Powell’s side were hammered 48-6 at Hull FC on Sunday and their short turnaround gives the Robins a golden opportunity to claim rare back-toback wins.

Wakefield, October 25 (Belle Vue)

A tough fixture for both teams with less than three days between matches, with Trinity playing Huddersfield Giants in the late game on Thursday night.

There will be changes galore but it is an important match for two sides desperate to avoid the wooden spoon.

Hull, October 29 (Totally Wicked Stadium)

While Rovers have only four days to prepare for the derby, FC have a seven-day turnaround after their trip to Perpignan.

It is far from ideal preparation from KR’S point of view and Tony Smith will need to get his rotation right.

Warrington, November 5/6 (TBC)

The Robins have a mini break before tackling their last set of three, starting with a tough game against the Wolves. Steve Price’s side still have work to do to make the playoffs and Rovers will look to take advantage of any anxiety.

Catalans, November 8/9 (TBC)

Like Warrington, the Dragons are in a good position to secure a topfour spot and will take some beating.

Catalans were comfortable winners in Perpignan earlier this month but it should be a closer contest on English soil.

Salford, November 12/13 (TBC)

The Red Devils came agonisingly close to winning the Challenge Cup and it is a big ask for them to go again with little to play for in Super League.

It is another winnable game for Rovers, who should be targeting at least three wins from their remaining fixtures to end the year on a high.
