A HEARTBROKEN daughter whose dad passed away from coronavirus said it “felt amazing” to give back to the nurses who cared for him with £200 worth of donations to the ward.

Peter Watson, 62, lost his two-week battle with Covid-19 on April 17, during the height of the pandemic, less than two weeks after testing positive for the virus.

Now his daughter Hayley, 34, has donated £200 worth of biscuits, drinks, chocolate, fruit, tea and coffee to the nurses who looked after her dad.

She raised the money with two car boot sales and a fundraising page on Facebook called Hayley’s medical fundraiser.

“It feels amazing, the hard work they do they deserve it,” she said.

“When I gave the stuff to them felt lovely and when I said thank you for being there for my dad when he was alive it felt so nice giving something back.

“I couldn’t thank them enough, they let my mam on Ward 80 to see my dad before he died and that’s the best thing anyone can do.

“My dad didn’t die on his own, his wife was there, but thank you is not enough for what the staff do there. They are amazing people.”

Hayley, of Westbourne Avenue, previously told the Mail she had been it left “beyond heartbroken” father’s tragic death.

Paying tribute to her father in April, Miss Watson said: “My dad was a lovely, caring and kind man who was always there to listen and would do anything for anyone.

“He could put his hands to anything and used to be a dustman and was a very practical man.

“He was honest, a brilliant dad and one in a million. “I still think that he will be coming through the door and I miss his jokes and banter.”

Mr Watson also left behind his wife Sharon and children Craig Watson, David Watson, Mark Watson and Leanne Robinson, along with seven grandchildren. after her
