Ferguson: Wilks City’s best attacking player

-

DARREN Ferguson has cited Hull City striker Mallik Wilks as the Tigers’ main danger man ahead of saturday’s crunch League One clash at the KCOM stadium.

Wilks netted a terrific brace in last saturday’s 3-0 win at Rochdale, to add to the winner he scored against Crewe and the goal at former club Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.

The City man has recovered from a stomach bug which saw him named on the bench for the 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, with head coach Grant Mccann forced into bringing him on just after the hour mark.

Posh arrive in east Yorkshire on the back of four straight wins, form which has lifted them into the top six, while City have bounced back to defeat at Fleetwood with two victories of their own to move top.

Three points for City could extend their lead at the top, and give Mccann a welcome boost against his former club, while success for Posh would see them move level with their hosts.

“It will be a good footballing match. Myself and Grant like our teams to pass the ball.

“They tend to play a 4-3-3 formation which I don’t expect to change on saturday and they have threats all over the pitch. They have also been hard to break down. They’ve only conceded four goals in League One and they all came in the same match!”

Given Posh’s recent form, it’s unlikely that Ferguson will rush into making too many changes, with a home game against struggling Burton Albion to come on Tuesday night.

“It’s such a busy period I expect to see teams leaving players out just to give them a rest.

“Hull left out Mallik Wilks on Tuesday and he’s probably their best attacking player.”
