From Hull City Council, a miserable £10 voucher. How the mighty have fallen. The tragedy of that is that Hull once led the country in the debate on the usefulness of school meals and providing them cheaply or free.

Honorary Alderman Colin Inglis.

There is money about, it’s just how you use it

AS someone who worked 30-plus years, and found myself, having to live on benefits through no real choice of my own, due to health issues, I’m one of those who gets free dinners.

Luckily my other children have grown up and now left, have jobs and aren’t in this cycle I find myself in. I am grateful for the help we receive.

But, I do get, pretty miffed when I hear these MPS play their political games. MPS who bang on about poverty, yet are the first to keep quiet, about their over-inflated pay rises.

Let’s not get started on the expenses, which lately has gone under the radar, which is higher now then the previous expenses scandal.

Top, that off with how they still go on to employ family as secretaries on lucrative packages.

Nowadays you’re able to see to MPS’ expenses, and it makes interesting reading.

School terms are brilliant for feeding children, but myself, personally, I would like to see something put together where food is delivered, as in a meal or food, direct to the household, so you know those children who really need it, actually get that food.

I see the council stepped in, thank you.

But, when you consider that amount of money they found for gates at the guildhall, sometimes you wonder, what the Government’s and councils’ priorities really should be about

There’s certainly money about, it’s just how you use it.
