Paintball venue storms into Hull
FIRST LOOK INSIDE AFTER SUCCESSFUL TEST RUN
HULL’S first ever indoor paintballing venue opened yesterday and these pictures show how amazing it is inside.
Known as Storm Paintball, it will be only the second paintball offering in East Yorkshire, joining the outdoor venue run by Hull Paintball in Ottringham in Holderness.
Owner of Storm Paintball Scott Winson invited a group of friends to the venue in Raywell Street, off Freetown Way, to give it a test run before opening.
He previously told the Mail: “We looked at a couple of places and the landlord was keen with the proposal we had.
“The building has been empty for five years, so he welcomed the idea.
“It has taken a while to get all the lease sorted out but we are there now.”
The venue, which is creating six new jobs, is split into two floors.
The ground floor contains three paintballing zones and includes a break room and drinks area, along with a reception and briefing room.
On the first floor, there is a fourth paintballing zone along with a viewing area.
Mr Winson said: “We have a big warehouse space. There is an urban feel to it.
“We have plenty of oil drums, timber bunkers and even an old car. We also have the old offices over two floors and we have taken all the doors and windows out.
“There are also LED lights and we can control how dark or light it is. We also have strobe lighting. There will also be sound effects to increase the atmosphere.”
It takes a brave person to open a new business during the coronavirus pandemic but Mr Winson says it has to be now.
He said: “Everyone wears full masks anyone and no one wants to get too close so it is the perfect activity right now.
“But we also have other measures in place. We are limiting numbers to 12 people although there is capacity for 20-30.
“There is enough space for groups to remain in their own bubbles. We also have one-way systems in place in the reception and break room and there will be hand sanitiser throughout the venue.”
Mr Winson also thanked paintball team SAS UK for taking part and providing advice.
He said: “A massive thank you to SAS UK who are a fantastic professional paintball team and our first guests at the trial.
“Their knowledge and advice was a massive help to me and my staff. Adam Parkman who runs SAS UK had previously been down and gave us advice on our set up and layout.”
While the venue is open each day from 9am to 10pm, booking slots are between 4pm to 10pm Wednesday to Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. If there are large enough numbers, bookings at other times can be accommodated.
Sessions are for two hours and are £20 per person.
Wednesday will be for females only and there is an option of low-impact sessions which are slower paced and use smaller paintball for families or those new to paintball. You can book by visiting www. stormpaintball.co.uk
