and keep our standards high.

Peter Smith.

I AM 81 years young, and I consider myself very fortunate that I can recall the times when we had real politicians running the country.

People who reached the top of their particular party, had served an “apprenticeship” rising up through the ranks to learn their trade.

Often, they had served in the Cabinets of previous leaders as ministers in various departments. They acquired a depth of knowledge and experience that is beyond the comprehension of the modern-day MP .

How can they be considered experienced enough to run a party, let alone a country, after having only been an MP for five or six years? Yet that is precisely what Labour is expecting from the voters.

Sadly, the pathetic inability of our current leader is only too evident in the childish back-biting that seems more important than dealing with Covid-19.

It is an interesting thought, however, that Brexit might be the answer to our problem.

Since the Common Market, which we were asked if we wanted to join, spawned into the EU, which we weren’t asked if we wanted to join, have we actually had a decent Prime Minister?

Could it be that, because the power actually resided in Brussels, we finished up with leaders who simply didn’t know how to lead?

From January 1, 2021, the future of this country lies purely in our own hands, and hopefully, with a decent leader, we can continue as one country.
