REGION’S CASES OF COVID SOAR
RATES SOAR AS REGION’S HOSPITALS RECORD EIGHTH DEATH IN FIVE DAYS
BIGGEST RISE SINCE LOCKDOWN
HULL’S hospitals have announced another coronavirus-related death as cases soar by 352 in just 24 hours.
It means there have now been eight deaths announced in five days.
The latest death to be announced at either Hull Royal Infirmary or Castle Hill occurred on Sunday and was announced in the latest data released yesterday by NHS England.
It comes after the Mail told how, on Monday, for the first time in a few months, the trust had announced three deaths in one day.
The total number of hospital deaths in our region now stands at 230.
Meanwhile, the amount of cases in Hull have increased by 169 to 3,432, and 183 new cases of f coronavirus have been n recorded in the East Riding, , now making a total of 4,372, 2, Government figures showed d yesterday.
This is the highest daily y increase of cases for Hull and d the East Riding combined d since lockdown ended.
The rate per 100,000 in Hull ll is now at 1,321.1 and 1,281.5 5 in the East Riding.
Latest figures for “cases by area” for the seven days leading up to five days ago, show East Riding had 815 cases – a rate of 238.9 per 100,000. Hull had 645 – a rate of 248.3.
Meanwhile, 22,885 more cases of coronavirus were recorded in the UK it was announced on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard yesterday.
The overall number of cases in the
UK U are now at 917,575. While there have been 367 more deaths in the UK, bringing the to total on the Government’s dashboard to 45,365.
It comes after th the Mail told how discussions over a “Tier 4” are said to be happening amid concerns the current tier system in England is n not going far enough to bring the R rate down.
That could mean thousands more people could start living under harsher coronavirus restrictions if the current system does not make enough of an impact.
