Map shows new virus hotspots

CASES RAPIDLY ON THE RISE IN ANLABY COMMON AND GOOLE

THERE are two new coronaviru­s hotspots in East Yorkshire, according to the latest figures.

Coronaviru­s cases in Anlaby Common and Goole have both increased by more than 100 per cent and now have the highest rolling rates in East Yorkshire.

Public Health England figures showed coronaviru­s cases in Anlaby Common increased by 19 cases to 36 by Thursday, October 22, up 111.8 per cent in seven days.

The rolling rate

Common stood according to the released yesterday.

In Hull, the rate remained lower, but parts of the city including Sculcoates and Boulevard and St Andrews saw percentage increases of a staggering 425 per cent and 286.9 per cent respective­ly.

Goole West’s total was up by 26 cases, or 113.2 per cent, with a rolling rate of 547.2 while that of Goole East rose by 37, 132.1 per cent, with a rate of 666.1.

The Howden North, Eastringto­n and Swinefleet MSOA case total stood at 32, up by 24 or 300 per cent, with a rate of 498.7.

Cases in Hornsea have also risen by 88.5 per cent, or 23, to a total of 49, with a rate of 590.

All three areas were shaded in purple on a Public Health England map, which grades MSOAS on the severity of their rolling rate.

Areas where coronaviru­s has been suppressed are shaded white, with the scale then moving from yellow for nought to ten, green for 11-50 and turquoise for 51-100.

Light blue refers to areas with rates of 101-200, dark blue for 201400 and purple for 400 and above.

Cases in Pocklingto­n, which previously saw some of the highest increases and rates in East Yorkshire, fell during the same period compared to the previous seven days by 26.

That equals a 44.1 per cent fall in new cases, with the town and surroundin­g area’s rate now at 272.2.

In Hull, the city centre, Sculcoalte­s, Boulevard and St Andrews, Chanterlan­ds Avenue and Sculcoates areas recorded lower rolling rates, but higher percentage increases.

The city centre saw cases rise by 25, an increase of five or by 25 per cent, with a rate of 255.3.

But Sculcoates saw a 425 per cent increase in cases, with 17 new recorded in the seven days, with a rate of 228.1.

Boulevards and St Andrews was also up by 17 to 25, an increase of 212.5 per cent or 278.8.

Chanterlan­ds Avenue’s total stood at 21, up by 10, a 90.9 per cent increase to a rate of 286.9.
