Techs in the city for major online event

INSIGHTS from blue chip giants Google, IBM and Microsoft will light up Tech Week Humber 2020.

Evren Eryurek, director of product management at Google Cloud has been named as the headline speaker for the event.

He works within the office of the chief technical officer in Silicon Valley and is an expert in cloud infrastruc­ture, security, and data.

Other keynotes include Steven Dickens, worldwide sales leader at IBM; and artificial intelligen­ce specialist­s Swathi Young, Forbes Technology Council member and Nigel Willson, former European chief technical officer for profession­al services at Microsoft.

He has gone on to co-found non-government organisati­on Weandai and advisory company Awakenai.

Antonio Tombanane, founder of Tech Week Humber and managing director of GB Recruitmen­t, said: “We are incredibly proud to be able to pull together such a strong line-up. Technology has been such an important part of this year and we hope that our event will connect the region and inspire an innovative future.”

Mr Tombanane told how this year’s event will bring together tech giants, and the local tech community to celebrate and shout about the Humber region.

“The event aims to give everyone within the sphere a voice, be they multi-nationals or local start-ups,” he added.

The main focus is the Expo, at which they will speak, on Wednesday, November 11.

Last year it attracted more than 2,000 people, and this year it will be run virtually on platform Hopin - and is free to attend.

Tech Week Humber starts on Monday, November 9 and will be launched by Exports Minister Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness. It will be followed by a panel of Humber tech leaders chaired by John Connelly, managing director of C4DI.
