Villagers face tough Wythenshawe Town Vase test
North Ferriby travel to Manchester to face Wythenshawe Town in the First round proper of this season’s FA Vase tomorrow.
having already seen off two opponents from the same region on home soil this will be a test of character for Ferriby away from home.
Ferriby go into this game on the back of a disappointing midweek 3-1 home league defeat to Winterton rangers and picked up a couple of injuries to key players just before half-time.
Despite the poor showing against Winterton manager Chris Bolder knows the character of his side will shine through and he said: “We have said to the players it is important sometimes in football never to get too low when you put in a performance like that.
“You can be disappointed but that performance is not something you can see week in week out from us. Sometimes in a team you can carry one or two but when you get six or seven who perform below their previous standards that is what you get.”
Ferriby will be without
Danny East and Louis Kirk who both picked up hamstring injuries within minutes of each other just before half-time.
Josh Street will also be out due to being cup-tied, having played in the competition for Selby Town.
on the up side Ferriby will welcome back Tom Corner and Laurence Mckay who both missed Wednesday’s game.
To get to this round Ferriby saw off St helens Town in a tie switched to the Dransfield Stadium after St helens could not host the game.
Goals from Danny Emerton and a Danny Buttle penalty saw the Villagers through to a home tie with Northwich Victoria which they won 3-2.
Wythenshawe are a team in form having won five out of five in the Northern Counties West League Division one South. In recent weeks they have scored five at Abbey hutton and eight at St Martins with a 5-0 home win over West Didsbury and Chorlton.
