Mccann is to ring City changes
FRINGE PLAYERS TO GET A CHANCE AGAINST TOWN
GRANT Mccann will look to switch up his Hull City side as the Tigers take on Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup tomorrow.
Games are coming thick and fast for the Tigers as they compete on three fronts throughout the month of November and Mccann looks set to give opportunities to a host of fringe players.
Having seen their midweek clash with Accrington Stanley cancelled, the City boss took the opportunity to give a number of players game time in the under-23s on Monday night, with George Long, Dan Batty, James Scott and Thomas Mayer being just some of those to feature in the 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
It seems they’ll be involved tomorrow too, with Mccann making plans to rotate his side when City welcome Fleetwood to the KCOM Stadium.
“There will be some changes for the match against Fleetwood, but it won’t be wholesale,” the Tigers head coach said at his pre-match press conference.
“Most of the team that played on Monday will get an opportunity to play. It’s a chance to rest those who have some knocks and niggles, nothing serious that’ll keep them out of league matches though.
“Last week we just looked leggy. It’s no excuse but we lacked energy and we didn’t take our chances. We know the areas we need to be better.”
The Tigers head coach will also be able to call on Regan Slater and Hakeeb Adelakun after they were given permission to play in the competition.
However, despite planning a host of changes from the side that lost at Swindon last time out, Mccann insists he is taking the Cup seriously.
“We know it’s a tough game but we’d love to have a run in the FA Cup,” he added. “It can be a really good confidence booster for you.”
