A BRANSHOLME woman became concerned about the Nightjar’s ability to follow coronavirus guidelines when a family member contracted the virus.

The woman said that the close family member, who is now hospitalised with the virus, had only been to the pub and nowhere else.

“They didn’t use the app, they didn’t take names for track and trace or anything like that,” said the woman, who wished not to be named.

“There was definitely metres social distancing.”

The family member who contracted the virus is still hospitalised and is thought to be in a critical condition.

“I think it’s disgusting. The Nightjar could have prevented this,” she said. not two

“I’ve heard that a minimum of five people have got Covid from there, but there’s no Track and Trace, so no one has been alerted.

“The pub obviously closed on Thursday, whether it’s been cleaned or not is debatable.

“People were mixing, there was no social distancing. There was no limited amount of people allowed in at one time. People were just carrying on as normal, like it was a normal day.

“Staff members were doing whatever and I’ve heard either the landlord or bar staff members have Covid too.

“If it wasn’t for lockdown, I don’t think they would have closed at all.”

In response to the claims the Nightjar said: “There have been a few cases of Covid, but we have done everything within the Covid guidelines.”

Graham Bunting, landlord at the Nightjar said: “We have done Track and Trace. We kept social distancing as much as possible.”

“We do table service and people have been wearing masks, tables get sanitised at all times and the pub gets a full sanitisation every morning.

“We couldn’t have done any more than we have been doing.”
