A “BULLYING” thug g dragged a man into a lift ft and forced him to show w him where another one e lived so he could threaten n him with a knife.

Abdiwahid Aden, 34, of Waltham Avenue in London, set upon the man outside a block of flats in Valiant Drive, east Hull, on March 4 this year.

Aden and an unidentified accomplice stopped two men and demanded to know where another, known as “Jacko”, lived so he could pay him a visit.

He dragged one of the men into a lift and rode up to the 11th floor of the flats with him, Dale Brook, prosecuting told Hull Crown Court on Friday.

Mr Brook said: “The defendant was aggressive. He can be seen on CCTV footage from the lift dragging the man into it against his will. At this stage, he told the witness, “I’ve got a knife” and got it out to give it to his accomplice. He then touched his head to the man’s in an intimidating way.

“He was acting on CCTV in a very intimidating and bullying manner.”

Once Aden reached his desired destination, he banged on the door to one of the flats before “squaring up to” the man he wanted to speak with, demanded money and then left.

As he was leaving, he was spotted slashing all four tyres of a Renault Megane parked outside the block of flats.

Mr Brook said: “The police were called and Mr Aden emerged some time later and was pointed out by two witnesses. The owner of the car did not particularly assist the police. When Mr Aden was interviewed he answered “no comment”.

The court heard previous convictions

Aden for 21 has 11 offences including firearm.

Mitigating, Mark Savage told the court Aden has not been in trouble for over three years before the offending he appeared to be sentenced for.

He said the breakdown of his relationship “triggered him into a downward spiral of taking drugs”.

Mr Savage added: “He hoped he had put his history behind him. Since he has been remanded into custody he has not been able to access any drugs courses because of the coronavirus pandemic. He has not been using methadone or anything to help him deal with his addiction so has gone cold turkey.

“He knows his actions would have been disturbing to any bystander.”

Recorder Simon Kealey told the court Aden had used “significant planning” in his crimes as he had travelled from London to Hull to carry them out.

He handed Aden an immediate custodial sentence of 18 months and one week for possession of a bladed article, common assault, criminal damage and failure to surrender. possession of an imitation
