A GANG of young children have been caught on camera jumping on cars “like trampolines” at Priory Park and Ride.

Police rushed to the scene in Hessle after cars were damaged and alarms sounded at the site, which is usually used by hundreds of commuters each morning.

Videos filmed by a worker, who is based nearby, shows the kids messing with a red car parked in the car park – with one of them appearing lay across the bonnet.

He blasted their behaviour, calling it “disgusting”, before going on to suggest that four cars were damaged in the bout of vandalism.

Humberside Police have since confirmed they received reports of three youths “jumping on car bonnets”, but that they were unable to track down the culprits.

The man, who asked not to be named, works near the busy site and says it is not the first time he has witnessed such actions.

“It’s disgusting that kids behave in this way and show no respect for other people’s property,” he said. “We work near the park and ride and just now two kids were jumping from bonnet to bonnet like the cars are trampolines.

“Four cars were damaged and the police were called.”

He believes the damage done could come at a total repair cost of more than £1,000.

Police say enquiries are continuing and they have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for the Humberside Police said: “A call was received today at 11.42am reporting three youths to be jumping on car bonnets in the Priory Park area, causing the alarms to sound and potentially causing damage.

“Our officers were quickly deployed to the area to undertake searches and enquiries, however on their arrival and following searches, the alleged culprits were not found to be still in the vicinity.

“Our officers spoke to local businesses and three incidents of criminal damage to vehicles have been recorded.

“Enquiries are continuing into these incidents and we ask anyone with information who has not spoken to us to call 101, quoting log number 158, of November 16, 2020.”
