PLAYER RATINGS

-

GEORGE LONG

Couldn’t have broken a sweat in the first half, so quiet was his evening. Did make a good save early in the second half at 2-0 and then late on, kept his concentration well. 7

LEWIE COYLE

Got forward and back well in the first half, a dependable display in a game he’d have been glad to get through on his return from injury. 7

DAN BATTY

Took a heavy tackle just three minutes in, but didn’t let that deter him. Looked hungry throughout, keen to get on the ball. 7

ALFIE JONES

Made a huge early tackle to thwart Max Wright and that set the tone for the evening. Marshalled things well and showed what a fine option he is to the manager. 8

HAKEEB ADELAKUN

Excellent in the first half, started purring as it wore on and created the second with a lovely bit of movement and skill. Only spent 10 minutes on in the second half before coming off. 8

SEAN MCLOUGHLIN

Like his partner in crime, Mcloughlin looked solid throughout and kept an enthusiastic attack quiet for the most part. 7

REGAN SLATER

Solid enough, and will get an assist for Samuelsen’s opener. Worked nicely in midfield alongside

Batty, in a game City dominated from start to finish. 7

BRANDON FLEMING

Another good 90 minutes for the young left-back, and worked nicely going forward. He’s got plenty to offer City in that position. 7

CALLUM JONES

Another good performance for the club, coming on the back of last week’s game at Harrogate. A real talent. 7

TOM EAVES

Looked good in the first half, even though he drifted out wide left when he surely would have enjoyed himself down the middle. Will have been frustrated at coming off, needs a goal. 7

MARTIN SAMUELSEN

Scored an absolute cracker to put City 1-0 up before heading in the second five minutes later. Could have had two or three more, will kick himself for missing the penalty. Confidence is growing. 9

FROM THE BENCH

Thomas Mayer (for Eaves 58): Looked lively, had a shot well saved before teeing up Samuelsen, from which he fired over. Went quiet after that but his cameo showed promise. 7/10

James Scott (for Adelakun 58): Straight into the action, fashioned a chance for Samuelsen who poked wide at the near post. Scored a terrific goal to make it 3-0. Wanted the ball and looked direct, showing the promise we know he has. 8/10

Max Sheaf (for C Jones 73): Steady display after coming on for the excellent Jones. Another good experience and will have relished 20-odd minutes in the first team. 7/10
