Car ‘nearly hits’ kids after crash outside primary

RESIDENTS say they are amazed no one was killed after a car ploughed into a parked vehicle just yards away from a primary school entrance.

The accident in Dorchester Road, Bransholme, happened at 8.30am yesterday, just as parents were dropping off their children at Dorchester Primary School.

Witnesses say one car smashed into a parked vehicle, although police are describing it as a two-vehicle collision.

The driver, who was alone in the black Vauxhall Meriva, was taken to hospital for treatment and part of Dorchester Road remained closed for most of the morning as investigat­ions took place.

One resident said: “There was a near miss. One mum had just taken her child through the gates when the crash happened. The car nearly hit them.”

Another resident said: happened just as parents taking the kids to school.

“I’m amazed no one was killed. “I just heard this loud bang and crash and looked out. The car has smashed into a parked car.

“There was just one male driver and he had blood on his face but otherwise looked okay.

“There were two fire engines and about five police cars and an ambulance.”

A spokeswoma­n for Humberside Police said: “Our teams are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces of a two-vehicle collision in Dorchester Road, Hull, on Wednesday morning.

“We were called by ambulance crews at 8.45am following reports of the collision between a black Vauxhall Meriva and a green Nissan Almera.

“One man has been hospital for treatment.
