Hull dream comes true for Ferreira

-

HULL FC have tied down promising youngster Jude Ferreira on a three-year deal.

The 18-year-old centre was called up into the first team this season by interim head coach Andy Last after impressing in the club’s reserve and academy teams.

After securing his future with the Black and Whites, Ferreira will have an even bigger involvement with the senior side next season and will hope to make progress and make his debut for the club.

Ferreira is a former West Hull amateur and has been recognised at youth and academy level by England.

“It has always been a dream of mine to sign for Hull FC, the team I have supported as a boy,” he told the club’s website.

“I’m eager to grasp the opportunity and show what I am about and what I can do, but I know from the last few months it is a really big step up and a challenge I’m looking forward to.

“I’ve been involved with England and experienced playing alongside first-team players in the reserves, but I’d love to kick on now and try and establish with some matches at Hull FC if I can earn the opportunity.”

He added: “I’d love to take over from Carlos (Tuimavave) or Josh (Griffin) one day, they’re two players I really look up to.

“They’re really at the top of their game at the minute so just to train alongside them whilst they’re doing that and learn from them has been a great experience.

“It has been a surreal experience, training alongside people I have looked up to since being a child, like Gaz Ellis.

“It has been challenging, but I have really enjoyed it.

“The hard work has made it a bit easier for me now as I really understand what it is going to take to be a Super League player and you will only get out what you’re willing to put in.

“It is hard work and a big step up, but I am really enjoying it and can’t wait to start again next season.”
