HEAD coach Grant Mccann is hoping for divine intervention when it comes to bringing new signings into the KCOM Stadium.

The Hull City boss is keen to add to his Tigers squad during the January transfer window which opened on Saturday, and is desperate to get the club’s business done sooner rather than later in a bid to aid the promotion push back to the Championship.

Mccann admitted in the build-up to Saturday’s impressive 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic that he’d already held conversations with potential new recruits, and reiterated his desire add quality to his ranks in the next month.

“We want to try stronger,” he said.

“We’ve got players lined up.

“I’ve had conversations with some of the targets, but it’s not as easy as just making a phonecall, there’s a lot that goes into bringing a player into and make us your football club. We’re just hoping and praying we get our business done early.

“If not, we’ve got a good squad as we had a good summer.”

Mccann also confirmed there had been interest in some of the club’s younger players, coming on the back of the success Billy Chadwick has enjoyed at Halifax.

Festus Arthur is one attracting interest from League Two and the National League, and the opportunity to send the younger members of City’s squad out on loan is a great opportunity, he says.

“There’s a lot of clubs in for some of our younger players to take them on loan, which we think is great.

“You’ve seen young Billy (Chadwick) who is doing really well at Halifax, Ryan Hanson at Dover, so there’s a lot of clubs in for some of the younger ones.

“It’s really good to see because it’s the next state of their development, to play men’s football is great and hopefully they come back to us in a better place,” he added.
