Festus set for Rochdale move

FESTUS Arthur could be set for a move to Hull City’s League One rivals Rochdale.

The highly-rated defender is likely to leave the club on loan during the transfer window, and it’s understood the Spotland outfit are interested in taking the 20-year-old German-born centreback until the end of the current season.

Arthur, of course, is no stranger to Lancashire, having moved to the KCOM in the summer from Stockport County.

Head coach Grant Mccann has already spoken of his expectation that younger members of the City squad may be allowed to leave on loan this month, following in the footsteps of Ryan Hanson and Billy Chadwick, while Arthur could look to the success Jacob Greaves enjoyed at Cheltenham last term before returning to captain the club this term.

“Yes, for sure,” said Mccann when asked if he’d be open to allowing players to move on from the KCOM Stadium this month.

“I think it’s really important. You’ve seen the impact Billy Chadwick’s had at Halifax. He’s got three goals in four games and scored the winning penalty for them in one of those games as well. Ryan Hanson’s at Dover and he’s doing quite well in the National League.

“There’s been a lot of phone calls for some of our younger players and some of the first team players, some of the ones who aren’t getting much game time and may need to go and play games.

“It’s making sure that we get the balance right – we have the right numbers so we can attack the second half of the season head on.

“For sure there will be people going out to get some game time.”
