Four further Covid deaths in the region

FOUR more deaths have been reported at Hull hospitals.

The news was announced in data released yesterday.

Meanwhile, a further 245 new coronaviru­s cases have been confirmed in Hull and the East Riding in the past 24 hours.

All of the deaths reported yesterday occurred on January 8.

Latest figures from the Government have also revealed there have now been a total of 27,533 cases of Covid-19 in Hull and the East Riding, as of yesterday.

East Riding saw 105 positive tests in the past 24 hours, bringing the total in the area to 13,336 – increasing from 13,231 on

Saturday.

The cumulative infection rate, since the pandemic began, now stands at 3,908.9 per 100,000 of the population.

In Hull, there have now been 14,197 cases of coronaviru­s in the city after an increase of 140 new cases in the past 24 hours. The cumulative infection rate in the city now stands at 5,465.1.

And, according to NHS England figures, 525 people in total have lost their lives to Covid-19 between Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, an increase of four from data released on Saturday.

The Government said a further 563 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of yesterday, bringing the UK total to 81,431.

Separate figures published by the UK’S statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificat­e, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 97,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the

The Government also said that, as of 9am yesterday, there had been a further 54,940 lab-confirmed cases of coronaviru­s in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,072,349.
