Parts of road to be shut for improvements

-

PARTS of Anlaby Road will be closed again for several weeks from today as major improvement works on some of the city’s key routes start again.

The work is part of a £4m project by Hull City Council to make repairs on three major routes in the city.

Residents and businesses were first informed of the impending disruption in the autumn, with parts of Anlaby Road closed for weeks from November as the improvement works took place.

Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for economic investment and regeneration, said the work was a response to concerns raised during regular condition surveys.

Now he has said that work is set to restart for “Phase B” following the Christmas period, with a number of diversions in place.

Mr Hale said: “Works on the major Anlaby Road replacement have recommenced on site this week.

“On Monday, January 11, Phase B will commence with an outbound closure in Anlaby Road between Walton Street and Melrose Street. The inbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.

“The diversion route for this closure will be via Walton Street, Spring Bank West and Calvert Lane. The side roads such as Plane Street, Sandringham Street and Granville Street, which are one-way, will be temporary made two-way to maintain access.

“Due to the width of these side roads some parking bays will be removed to create passing bays to maintain access.

“Phase B works is scheduled for completion by February 7.”
