THE Albert Hotel in Anlaby Road, Hull, is up for sale with a price tag of £342,000.

The pub is part of a portfolio of Authentic Alehouses Limited (AAL) properties being sold by Christie & Co on behalf of joint administrators Simon Bonney and Michael Kiely, of Quantuma.

The Albert is one of four traditional public houses in busy town centre or suburban locations being marketed by the company; a fifth inn is in a smaller, rural location.

All are broadly located within a “corridor” along the M62 from Hull, in East Yorkshire, to Barnoldswick, in Lancashire, and are being offered as singles or as a group.

The Anlaby Road hotel and sports bar, which dates back to the early 1900s, was put up for sale after AAL appointed London-based Quantuma to handle its administration, in March 2019.

AAL had borrowed funds to refurbish a number of its pubs, including the Albert Hotel, but failed to make the full interest payments due on the loans, which constituted default.

Neil Morgan, senior director in Christie & Co’s corporate hospitality team is leading the sale of the pubs, with support from Christie & Co’s regional network of agents.

Mr Morgan said: “We’re delighted to bring the portfolio to market on behalf of administrators.

“The properties have been well maintained and we anticipate strong interest in these particular assets that are priced at a level which is likely to attract numerous prospective buyers.”

The properties are equipped for use as a public house with letting rooms and/or dining rooms. A mixture of manager’s accommodation and letting rooms are also featured on the sites. The Albert Hotel is offered for sale freehold at £342,000 and described as “a substantial three-storey detached property, built around circa 1930s, of brick construction under a pitched slate tiled roof with colour wash elevations”.

Internally, it is said to have a large, open-plan, ground-floor trading area, designed for standing drinking and for watching sports events on a large TV screen.

There are also seven usable letting bedrooms on the first floor and there is also a large manager’s flat on the top floor.

Externally, there are beer patios to both the front and rear of the property, plus a large car park for about 22 vehicles.

The property, which provides a total of about 8,307sq ft of internal space, occupies a rectangular-shaped plot which extends to 0.35 acres.

“Strong regular local clientele is supplemented by additional match day trade and contractors using the letting bedrooms,” the marketing details state.

The other pubs involved in the sale are the Countess of Rosse, Shipley; the Fountain Inn, Barnoldswick; the Ponty Tavern, Pontefract, and the Wakey Tavern, Wakefield.
