Bus operator is suspending some services

-

EAST Yorkshire has announced some of bus journeys in and around Hull will be suspended as the coronavirus crisis deepens.

From Sunday, a small number of late night journeys will be suspended, while some frequent buses in Hull will run slightly less often due to lower numbers of people travelling.

The routes affected are Services 33/34/44, 56/57, 63,

66, 103, 104, 105, 121, 151, 152, 153, 154, X46/7 and school buses.

Any services not included in this list, including all Scarborough, Bridlington and Withernsea buses, will continue to run as normal.

Ben Gilligan, East Yorkshire’s area director, said: “We will still be running nearly all our services as normal, to allow key workers to get to employment and so people can do food shopping and get to medical appointments.

“We’ve seen a significant drop in demand for services, as well as having to protect some of our own staff who are shielding, so by retiming some quieter journeys we can reallocate our resources to busier journeys that are more important to key workers.”

East Yorkshire buses ask people to only use the service for essential purposes included employment and food shopping.

Contactless payment is preferred when purchasing tickets, as well as wearing a face mask while on the bus.

These timetables will remain in place until lockdown lifts or government guidance changes. Passengers are asked to wash their hands before travel, and stay quiet where possible.

The firm is taking advice from individual schools and colleges as to whether they wish their dedicated school buses to continue running.

If your child needs to continue travelling to school, please contact your school to find out which buses are running.
