Could snow fall at the weekend?

SLEET AND SNOW PREDICTED IN REGION

-

HULL and the East Riding have been warned to be brace for snow and ice this weekend.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for much of East Yorkshire, including west Hull - however, the east of the city, as well as Holderness and Bridlington are not currently within the warning area.

The Met Office says there is a “chance of travel delays”, which could cause vehicles to be stranded. Power cuts could also occur.

The warning covers the majority of the north of England, stretching as far south as Nottingham, while also covering almost all of Scotland.

No snow is yet forecast to fall in Hull tonight going into Saturday morning, however sleet is then forecast from around 9am.

Temperatures are likely to be around 2C during daylight hours, wind making it like a low of -4C.

After a period of sporadic rain showers from 6pm, sleet and then snow are forecast into the early hours of Sunday.

The snow and ice warning issued by the Met Office reads: “There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, with the feel more along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

“There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

“A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. A small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become dangerous, posing a greater risk of injury.”
