Hull City have completed the signing of Birmingham City midfielder Dan Crowley in what’s being viewed as quite a coup, fighting off interest from other clubs including

Charlton Athletic. The 23-year-old former Arsenal youngster will spend the rest of the season on loan at the KCOM Stadium, handing City a significant boost to their hopes of securing an immediate return to the Championship.

Crowley has fallen out of favour at St Andrew’s under Aitor Karanka, with his last outing coming against City’s Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in October, with the Spaniard admitting a change in formation had worked against him whilst favouring ex-city man Jon Toral.

The flamboyant Coventry-born player will be no stranger to Tigers fans after scoring in the 3-3 draw between the two clubs in a Championship match back in June, and City will hope he can hit the ground running in the coming weeks.

Hull Live reported on Friday that a deal had been completed and would be confirmed ahead of tonight’s game with Accrington, Grant Mccann refused to comment on the progress of the deal, though he did reveal his thoughts on Crowley’s talent.

“We are always linked with players,” Mccann told BBC Humberside.

“Dan’s obviously one that we like, but I can’t tell you any more on that until its finalised or done.

“We are trying to strengthen on the forward areas as I’ve said before.

“He was in the top five for expected assists in the Championship last year and the other four are in the Premier League, he’s a serious player.”

Crowley becomes City’s third January arrival, coming quickly on the back of Jordan Flores and Gavin Whyte, both of whom arrived last week, with Whyte going on to make his debut in Saturday’s draw with Blackpool.

City remain keen to add further to their ranks before the window closes on February 1, with a striker top of their shopping list.
