Defendant denies he left condoms as ‘calling cards’ at scenes of previous sex offences

-

PAWEL Relowicz has been accused of leaving behind “condom calling cards” at the scenes of his previous sexual offences.

On February 9, 2019, nine days after Libby disappeared, Relowicz was arrested in relation to separate offences of voyeurism, outraging public decency and burglary. He was charged a day later.

He later pleaded guilty to nine offences – four counts of voyeurism, three of burglary and two of outraging public decency – in August 2019.

Relowicz has admitted during the trial that he was “looking for a woman to have sex” or to commit voyeurism again when he found Libby while driving around the student area of Hull on the night she disappeared.

Yesterday, prosecution barrister Richard Wright QC asked: “Do you agree in 2017, 2018 and 2019 you were regularly targeting young women and committing sexually motivated offences?”

Relowicz replied: “This is correct.”

The court has previously heard the details of those offences, including watching a couple have sex in their home in Edgecumbe Street and committing burglary and voyeurism in Chester Avenue.

Asked whether his sexual urges were “completely out of control” at that time, Relowicz agreed that they were.

Mr Wright accused Relowicz of leaving the condoms as “calling cards”, but the defendant insisted that was not the case.

Asked about leaving the condom in Edgecumbe Street, Relowicz said: “That was this type of fetish I had. I left it there possibly because I was malicious or something like that. Because they caught me and I threw it near the door.”

In Chester Avenue, Relowicz said he “did not know” he had left the condom close to a child’s toy, adding: “It came out of my pocket which previously I had taken out of my desk.”

He said: “I just had too many of the items [condoms and underwear] and it must have fallen out.”
