CARLOS Tuimavave hopes to build ‘a special’ relationship with Josh Reynolds on Hull FC’S right edge Selection permitting, the pair will make up half of Hull’s new look right edge this season and they are already learning plenty about each other. Before he had even arrived at the club Reynolds had shown how keen he was to play in the Super League with Tuimavave and having trained together for the last five weeks, it seems the feeling is mutual. Of course, there is still seven weeks until the competition gets underway, but the pair are busy working hard on their understanding with and without the ball. “We’re learning a new system and it’s just getting used to that and playing with Josh Reynolds, it’s just getting used to the way he defends and he has to get used to how I defend, we’re getting there and improving every week,” Tuimavave told the Mail. “He’s been great, he’s great around the place, very bubbly and he lifts everybody’s spirits and comes in buzzing every day, he’s been really good. “I think he’s different to what we’ve had, he’s a bit of a livewire, he loves to run the ball and he’s very quick as well. “I’m definitely looking forward to playing with him and hopefully we can build something special.” Hull aren’t getting ahead of themselves this year, though. Brett Hodgson is purposefully avoiding a discussion about end of season targets with his team this pre-season as they focus on themselves and the necessary improvements and Tuimavave has echoed that sentiment. When asked if he was approaching the new season with confidence, he said: “I think we say that every year, don’t we?” “For us it’s about building a good culture and buying into a system that everyone is comfortable and confident with. I think that will go a long way towards helping us to be successful no matter what team goes out on the field. “It’s a tricky one, we don’t want to look too far ahead of ourselves so we’ll probably take it block by block and see how we progress. “Obviously the ultimate goal is win the Super League title and I’m sure everyone will sit down and say that’s their goal, but I think it’s about building towards that and taking it step by step. It’s a long season and we can’t look too far ahead. “The squad hasn’t changed too much, it’s just about trying to build the right culture and buying into what Brett wants to bring to the squad and what he wants to achieve.”
