Linnett claims clean sweep at KR awards

-

HULL KR back-rower Kane Linnett has been rewarded for another stellar season with a hat-trick of major awards.

The 32-year-old has been crowned the Roger Millward Player of the Year and Members’ Player of the Year for the second year running, while he also claimed the Players’ Player of the Year award.

Linnett was an ever-present in a landmark campaign for the Robins, finishing with a competition-high 13 tries for a forward.

The Australian was solid on the other side of the ball, making 28 tackles per game on average.

After earning a place in the Super League Dream Team, Linnett now has three more awards to add to his growing collection.

Hooker Jez Litten made it back-to-back Young Player of the Year awards after building on a breakthrough season at Super League level.

Like Linnett, Litten played in every game and enhanced his burgeoning reputation through a combination of electric running and solid defence.

The Try of the Year went to Brad Takairangi for his scintillating solo effort against Salford Red Devils, while youngster Luis Johnson won the Tackle of the Year award after preventing a certain try in the win at Wigan Warriors.

There was special recognition for Mose Masoe after he was presented with the Colin Hutton Outstanding Contribution Award.

Masoe has been at the club since 2017, initially starring as a player before becoming an inspirational figure off the field in his recovery from a life-changing spinal injury sustained while in action for Rovers.
