Evans set for Super League
HULL AN OPTION AFTER HIS
RELEASE BY THE WARRIORS
KANE Evans is bound for the Super League after being released by New Zealand Warriors.
The prop only spent one season with the Warriors, but he has parted ways with the club by mutual agreement with a statement confirming he is pursuing an opportunity in England.
Evans has been linked to several clubs in the Super League and the Mail believes Hull FC are one to have discussed him as a potential option.
FC have made no secret about being in the market for a middle and Evans would appear to fit the bill should they decide to pursue a move.
They currently have an overseas quota spot available after successfully offloading Mahe Fonua this off-season which has freed up the space to make a signing from Down Under.
“By mutual agreement we’ve parted ways amicably to enable Kane to pursue opportunities in the Super League,” said the Warriors’ recruitment boss Peter O’sullivan in the club’s statement. “We thank Kane for the contribution he has made this season and wish him all the best for his future in England.”
The Fiji international made 14
NRL appearances after joining the Warriors from Parramatta Eels at the start of the year.
However, his season ended in controversy as he was hit with a six-game ban after being charged for two incidents in the club’s final game of the season.
The ban was issued by the NRL but it would be upheld by the RFL, meaning he is set to miss the start of the season with his new club.
Evans started his NRL career with Sydney Roosters and he has since amassed 131 NRL appearances and 13 caps for Fiji.
