Tough tests for Ferriby, Brid and Hall Road

-

NORTH Ferriby look to extend their eight-match winning run against Ollerton Town at the Dransfield Stadium today.

The Villagers come into the game having beaten Glasshoughton Welfare 2-1, but needed a big final 20 minutes to secure the three points.

Ollerton were transferred into the Northern Counties East League from the Central Midlands League due to the FA’S league restructure.

The Nottinghamshire based side made a slow start but have picked up recently.

Like the Villagers, Ollerton come into this game on a winning run, currently sitting at four, the latest of these being a thrilling 4-3 victory over Selby. ■■Bridlington Town will be looking for a third consecutive home win and a passage into the FA Trophy third qualifying round when they host Sheffield FC.

Apart from the poor showing at Pontefract, Brid have been showing signs of improvement.

Brid and Sheffield met on August Bank Holiday weekend and after gifting their hosts two goals in the first 10 minutes, the Seasiders went down 3-0.

Since then Sheffield have drawn at Lincoln United and lost their next four league fixtures.

Both clubs are level on six points with next to bottom side Pickering Town, but the

Seasiders have the better goal difference of the three.

As per FA Trophy rules if the scores are level after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to a penalty competition to decide the winner.

■■Hall Road Rangers face a stern test at Brigg Town this afternoon.

The hosts sit second in NCEL Division One, unbeaten in nine league games which includes eight successive wins.

Brigg’s have the second best attack in the league with 47 goals scored in their first 12 games.

The Zebras have the joint fourth best defence, having only conceded 17 goals and have also recorded four clean sheets.

Hall Road’s last visit to Brigg took place in the 2016-17 season. Chris Spinks bagged a brace to secure Rangers a 2-0 win.
