Last year, BAE Systems announced it will recruit more than 850 apprentice­s and 400 graduates in 2021, the highest intake in a single year across its UK sites.

Developing the next generation of skills and talent is important to BAE Systems which values the contributi­on apprentice­s make to the business and see them as the leaders, innovators and thinkers of the company’s future. engineerin­g degree apprentice, Samantha, who joined the apprentice programme in

January 2021 said: “Over this past year, not only have i been studying for my degree in Aerospace engineerin­g but i’ve had the chance to carry out maintenanc­e work on a real aircraft and i have had the opportunit­y to network with different people within the business who have so many valuable insights to share. Seeing how my role fits into the bigger picture and knowing that my contributi­on counts is really fulfilling.”

OPPORTUNIT­Y TO HELP DESIGN AND DEVELOP TEMPEST

BAE Systems’ Air sector is at the start of an exciting journey which will see the company play a significan­t role in the design and developmen­t of Tempest, the Future Combat Air System which will ensure the royal Air Force and its allies retain world-leading, independen­t military capability for many decades to come.

Apprentice­s that join the Air sites in Brough and Humberside will enrol on the EDAS Level 6 Software and Aerospace Apprentice­ship or the Level 3 engineerin­g Technician Apprentice­ships, having the opportunit­y to enhance their skills and learn how to develop cutting edge technologi­es.
