CELEB-INSPIRED HALLOWEEN DOOR STYLING TAKES OFF IN THE REGION

IT is a trend normally associated with rich A-listers who show off on Instagram – but seasonal door styling is now taking off in East Yorkshire thanks to a Welton-based business.

Bushy & Co was created a year ago by Emma Bush, who wanted an outlet for her creative skills and to turn her passion for interiors into a business.

She bought a tipi and launched her business during the pandemic, catering for private family celebration events – but business proved difficult with the restrictions around gatherings.

So, inspired by the sumptuous Halloween and Christmas door arrangements favoured by the likes of Amanda Holden and Stacey Solomon, Emma launched the door styling part of her business late last year, which meant she could carry on trading.

And it has been such a hit that customers booked in for Christmas and she is now filling up her order book months in advance.

Emma, 43, a single mum who also has a full-time job as a director for a healthcare firm, said: “I have been doing this for about a year. I launched the tipis first, but I had to close bookings for those during the lockdowns.

“I started off doing my own door styling, and I posted it on Facebook.

“From there, people started asking me to do theirs too, and it just took off.

“We took bookings for last Christmas, and those clients immediately booked me for this Christmas also.

“It’s the kind of thing you see from Stacey Solomon and Amanda Holden and other celebrities, but they obviously have very lavish huge displays.

“But we are bringing that London styling that is now so popular to East Yorkshire.”

The door arrangements can be dismantled and reused and refreshed for the following year, and Halloween displays feature hay bales, a variety of different coloured and sized pumpkins, and an array of autumnal flowers.

Their Christmas displays feature bauble towers, festive twinkly lights and plenty of green foliage.

Emma said launching the business during the pandemic has been a “tricky time” and she still works her full-time job to support herself and her four-year-old son, but she said she would love to pursue the tipi and styling business full time one day.

“It’s a great way to show off my creative flair and we’ve had wonderful experiences with our clients,” she added.
