A HULL animal charity has shared a “heart-wrenching” story about a dog named Joe who lies all day cuddling a sweater belonging to his owner who has sadly died.

Hull Animal Welfare Trust says its new arrival is “suffering the loss of their human”.

The adorable dog, Joe, is around ten or 11 years old and is “so upset” that he does not want to eat or even go for a walk.

The charity is looking for a loving home for Joe so he can begin to rebuild his life.

“Today brings us yet another heart wrenching story about our new arrival who is also suffering the loss of their human,” Hull Animal Welfare Trust posted on Facebook.

“This is Joe. He is an older boy around 10/ 11 years old.

“Joe is so upset that he doesn’t want to eat, or go for a walk. He lies all day cuddling a sweater belonging to his previous owner.

“We are seeking a home for Joe, so that he can begin to rebuild his life in a home, rather than a kennel environment.

“He may be able to live with an another older, calm dog with the right introductions. He may also be suited to a home with older children.

“Please share, to help us find Joe his new family. If you feel that you would like to adopt Joe, please call the shelter on 01430 423986. Thank you.”

The post attracted more than 200 comments.

“This is so heartbreaking,” one said. “However, looking at all these responses, he will no doubt get another loving home.”

Another wrote: “He looks so sad and lost bless his heart.”

A third added: “Bless Joe, I hope you find a beautiful soul to give you all the love you need.”

The charity’s Facebook appeal has been shared more than 1,800 times.
