FROM 20 TO 11

-

20: Liam Farrell: The Wigan stalwart is one of the most respected in the game and his form in 2021 saw him return to the England fold.

He made 22 Super League appearances and 553 tackles, scoring nine tries and claimed five assists.

19: Tom Davies: The winger enjoyed another fine campaign, helping Catalans Dragons to a maiden Grand Final.

Davies, 24, was the top metremaker in Super League with 3332m and also weighed in with 14 tries and three assists.

18: Paul Mcshane:

The 2020 Steve Prescott Man of Steel is hugely respected for his consistently outstanding performances for Castleford.

Mcshane’s work-rate, relentless will to win and ability to get the best out of those around him saw him enjoy another fine campaign.

17: Shaun Kenny-dowall:

The KR captain led by example and made 20 appearances.

The imposing centre scored five tries, claimed six assists and was second only to Wakefield’s prop David Fifita in terms of offloads, making 42 throughout the season.

He also made 298 carries and gained 2408m.

16: Gareth Widdop: The England playmaker was shortlisted for the 2021 Man of Steel award following his outstanding campaign.

Widdop scored 10 tries and claimed 13 assists for Wolves.

15: Jake Connor: Has developed a reputation for being an enigma, a maverick and inconsistent.

2021 saw Connor produce one of the best years of his career, directly involved in more than 40 per cent of his team’s tries, the highest in the competition. His move to fullback has worked wonders and taken his game to a new level.

14: James Roby: He’s 35 but remains one of the best, and most influential, players. A fifth Grand Final is in the bag. He will go down as one of the best of his generation.

13: Jack Welsby: Super League’s young player of the year is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s brightest prospects.

13 tries and 13 assists is a damn good return for a player who has yet to actually nail down a regular position in the Saints team.

12: Sam Kasiano: Has made a habit of skittling defenders and generally causing chaos.

The giant has been at his destructive best, helping Catalans take a stranglehold of games and blitz teams off the park.

11: Josh Drinkwater: With 28 assists he was the biggest creator in Super League this season.

Drinkwater’s kicking game was particularly impressive too, coming up with some big plays for his team while creating plenty of points too.
