Man charged after woman was attacked

A HULL man has been charged after a woman was the victim of an alleged attack in Beverley.

The alleged incident happened between 7.50pm and 8.10pm in Swinemoor Lane, Beverley, on Saturday, October 16.

A force spokeswoma­n said: “We are appealing for dashcam footage from vehicles that were travelling along Hull Bridge Road at the Beverley side of the Swinemoor Lane roundabout between, as part of an ongoing investigat­ion.

“It was reported that a woman was assaulted by a man at approximat­ely 8pm on that evening, suffering injuries that required hospital treatment.

“It was also reported the man attempted to sexually assault the woman before being disturbed by witnesses.

“The woman will make a full recovery; however it was understand­ably incredibly distressin­g and she continues to be supported by officers.

“Officers quickly attended the incident, and subsequent­ly we can now report a 28-year-old man has been charged with committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence.

“He was remanded into custody to appear in Hull Crown Court on Monday, November 15, following his first court appearance in Hull Magistrate­s yesterday, Monday, October 18.

“We would like to thank the witnesses who came to the aid of the woman and who have supported our investigat­ion so far.

We understand that hearing of incidents of this nature can be concerning for the public, but both high-visibility and plain-clothed officers continue to patrol the area to provide reassuranc­e and challenge any suspicious or unsettling behaviour.”
