Section of A63 to close overnight for repairs
Motorists are facing more misery as a main section of the A63 will close overnight for longplanned improvement works.
the £800,000 roadworks will see new signage, vegetation removal and the layout improved in and around the Welton interchange.
Weather permitting, work will begin next week, and should be complete by Christmas.
National Highways project manager Chris Corcoran said: “Safety and visibility will be enhanced at the Welton interchange over the coming months as we remove overgrown vegetation, install high friction surfacing and add new signs and road markings.
“the work will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to road users, and will require full overnight carriageway and slip road closures around the Welton interchange to ensure the safety of road users and our workforce.
“We appreciate drivers and local residents have already been encountering disruption along the A63 in recent months, so we’d like express our thanks in advance for their patience while we carry out this work, which will ultimately improve the safety for drivers and the residents of nearby villages.”
Due to the works, there will be the following series of overnight road closures, from 8pm to 6am, at Welton interchange in the coming weeks:
■■Eastbound carriageway and interchange junction slip roads on october 26 to 27, November 4 to 5, November 8 to 12 and November 15 to 16.
■■Westbound carriageway and interchange junction slip roads on four consecutive weekends from November 6.
■■Westbound carriageway exit slip road on october 27.
