Cult Cinema Sundays returning

-

CULT Cinema Sunday returns to Hull next weekend as Social prepares to host the classic movie night.

Cult Cinema Sunday hosts a wide range of films, from The Warriors to The Room, and is sure to provide a fantastic evening for cinema-lovers.

The screening will take place at Social on Humber Street, with the venue recently investing in some old-school cinema-style chairs just in time for the screening next Sunday.

Damien Greco, of Cult Cinema Sunday, said: “We’re back on Halloween night, October 31, and will be screening the 1980s all-time horror classic The Evil Dead, in celebration of its 40th anniversary.”

Halloween fancy dress is encouraged to the screening.

Damien said: “We’re hugely excited to bring cult film back to Humber Street at our old stomping ground. We had more than seven years of screenings when the building was

Fruit. We’ve had a lot of fun and screened so many ace movies, so we can’t wait to see friends old and new at the screenings as we bring the night back every month.”

Cult Cinema Sunday has not run for more than three years, due in part to the closing of Fruit and also because of the restrictions caused by the pandemic, which limited the capacities of indoor venues.

Damien said: “It’s been a crazy 18 months for sure. Our last screening was in August 2018 just before Fruit closed permanently.

“We held a sold out show of The Room, also known as the worst movie ever made, which we’re excited to say will be returning to screen at Social very soon.”

With regard to the new chairs, Damien said: “The much-loved wooden chairs from the days of Fruit have gone, and we’re back with some fancy red cushioned ones.”
