Windass is willing to help out at City

-

DEAN Windass has offered to help solve Hull City’s goalscoring crisis as his beloved Tigers toil with life back in the Championship.

City have mustered just nine goals in their opening 14 games this season, the joint-lowest in the Championship, and Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Luton saw Grant Mccann’s struggling Tigers fail to find the net for the sixth successive away game, leaving them two points adrift of safety in the relegation zone.

Windass, who notched an impressive 64 times in 205 outings for his hometown club including that famous volley to seal promotion to the Premier League against Bristol City at Wembley in 2008, has offered to return to his old club to help coach the strikers in a bid to get them firing.

The 52-year-old wants vicechairman Ehab Allam to get in contact with him about a possible coaching role, and even says he’s prepared to work for free in a bid to get the likes of Keane Lewis-potter, Mallik Wilks, Josh Magennis and Tyler Smith firing.

“Was listening today after watching Sheffield Wednesday today because our Josh is injured one gentleman spoke about saying about missing chances and bring a striker coach I will do it for nothing

Ehab you no [ sic ] where I live and you no [ sic ] my number I don’t want no money,” he wrote on Twitter.

So far, Lewis-potter has struck three times (twice in the Championship) with Josh Magennis sitting on two and Tom Eaves on one, highlighting the issues City have had since promotion.

This season’s struggles in front of goal are a far cry from last season’s glut on the road which saw Mccann’s league winners rack up 48 goals in their 23 games.
