Charity gets on the ball to raise funds
TV STARS TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR LIFE FOR A KID
STARS from popular TV soaps Hollyoaks and Emmerdale will be playing football in Hull to raise money for local children’s charity Life For A Kid.
The charity match will be held on Saturday, November 27, at Steve Prescott Sports Centre in west Hull.
It will welcome the likes of Kevin Fletcher, who played Andy Sugden, and James Hooton, who played Sam Dingle, on Emmerdale.
Charity ambassador Joe Shears, 30, said they are expecting to host nine more celebrities from the shows who will contribute towards raising funds for the charity.
The full line-up of celebrities will be announced at a later date.
Each player will bring in £60 in sponsorship that will go towards keeping the charity’s sensory room free of charge for the individuals that need it.
Joe said: “The sensory room would allow people with disabilities or other issues to come into an environment where there will be white noises and other things that generally would relax them where they can have a bit of fun.
“They can also meet other families who may be going through the same sort of issues, or provide them with support which they might not get at home.”
Life For A Kid Foundation also supports children under the age of 16 who require life-saving or life-changing operations to lead a better life by offering them funds and equipment.
“Because of Covid, we had to cancel a lot of fundraising events, so a few of us came together
to put together a football team, LFAK football club, to try to raise money once Covid was lifted.
“Apart from the football match, on the day we are going to have raffles, stalls and face painters, it’s going to be a big fundraiser.”
