Sewell Group invests in Leeds-based Galliford Try-backed estates consultancy

-

HULL’S Sewell Group has invested in fellow Yorkshire estates consultancy Community Ventures Partnerships Ltd as part of its strategic growth plans.

The Leeds-based operation, backed by construction giant Galliford Try, develops, builds and manages health and social care facilities across the North and Midlands, as well as providing estates advisory services to the public sector and management services.

Phil Harris, director at Galliford Try Investments, said: “We welcome the Sewell Group’s investment in the business. Community Ventures has gone from strength to strength in the past few years and we are confident that this investment heralds the next exciting period of growth for the business.

“We look forward to working alongside our new colleagues.”

Jo Barnes, managing director of Sewell Estates and Dave Leedham, director of Sewell Investments, will join the board alongside the current director team - led by chief executive Nigel Fenny and supported by commercial director Dean Spencer.

Day-to-day operations remain with them.

The undisclosed deal expands the footprint of the estates management consultancy, with the business having offices in Stockton, Barnsley and Nottingham, as well as the West Yorkshire HQ, where Sewell also has a presence with construction business Illingworth and Gregory.

Mrs Barnes said: “We are delighted to be joining Phil, Nigel and the Community Ventures team. As a Times Top 100 company, we know that business is all about having the right people with the right values on board, and that’s why we were keen to be part of the Community Ventures family.”

The businesses are described as sharing many of the same values, with the new partnership “allowing both companies to broaden their capabilities and realise their continued growth”.

It comes nearly a year on from Sewell’s acquisition of data tech specialist Parallel Data Intelligence, with it brought on board by the East

Yorkshire firm’s Shared Agenda entity. Community Ventures was launched in 2001, as a private sector partner under the NHS’S Local Improvement Finance Trust programme.

Mr Fenny said: “We have a great team and I am looking forward to seeing them thrive as we continue to support our customers and bring additional value to them with the involvement of our new partners.”
