Father and son combine for Brough Alliance win

-

COTTINGHAM Parks Director of Golf and Humber Alliance Organiser Chris Gray made it a family affair when teaming up with his son Matthew to win the most recent Alliance hosted by Brough.

The Grays, with Matthew playing off a 14 handicap, totalled 42 betterball stableford points, a score equalled by two other pairings.

A back nine count back saw the Grays take first place with an excellent 23 points, just one point ahead of the home club pairing of J. Thorpe and R. Dennis, who in turn were one point clear of Laceby Manor’s Riley and Davenport.

It proved a good day for Gray senior as he also won the leading professional’s prize ahead of Skidby Lakes’ Nick Whiting with Brough’s Oliver Cross in third place.

As is customary the Brough Alliance is used to determine the four qualifiers for the Alliance’s Matchplay Championship to be played later in the season.

This season the four qualifiers are Bridlington Links and Laceby Manor with 79 points and Cottingham Parks and Brough on 78 points.

Cottingham Parks will host the next alliance on Friday, October 29.
