Evans: I can’t wait to test myself with Hull

HULL FC have completed the signing of Fiji international and former New Zealand Warriors forward Kane Evans.

The 29-year-old has signed an initial twoyear deal with the Black and Whites, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2023 season at least.

Evans will add size, depth and power to FC’S front-row line-up for next season and head coach Brett Hodgson will be hoping he can complement the likes of Ligi Sao and Chris Satae, who shone so brightly this year.

The forward comes with bags of experience, having made over 130 appearances down under with outings coming in the colours of Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and the Warriors, where he was released earlier this month.

However, he has also picked up 13 caps for Fiji and stands a chance of representing them in England at next season’s World Cup.

The prop also appeared for the NRL All Stars team in 2016.

Evans becomes Hull’s third signing of the off-season, joining his Fiji team-mate Joe Lovodua and Darnell Mcintosh, and he can’t wait to challenge himself in the Super League.

“To have signed my deal and to be on my way over there soon is a massive opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get started with the club,” Evans told the club.

“I’ve always wanted to test myself on the other side of the world in Super League.

“From what I have heard from some of the boys I know who already play in Super League say that the forwards tend to be much bigger.

“It is a new test for me to challenge myself against some of the big names on the other side of the world, and I am looking forward to making home at Hull FC having heard a lot of good things about the club and the city.”

Evans will be expected to make the move over the UK in the coming weeks and link up with his new team-mates for pre-season.

And at 6ft 6in, he promises to be an imposing presence for the Black and Whites next season.
